Experiencing life to the fullest was the adventure worth living and Christopher McCandless set out to live his life with that thought foremost in his mind. He chose to take the road less traveled, altering the lives of those who he came into contact with, and those who have read or seen his story through Into the Wild. Back to the Wild takes us once again on this journey through Chris’ original photographs and writings until his tragic death in Alaska.
Chris was a true documentarian, and this book will chronicle that journey with photographs and writings. These writings include correspondence between Chris and Wayne Westerberg, Jan Burres, Russell Fritz and other friends whose lives he touched deeply, even for a short time. The photographs of his odyssey are taken by Chris and are a powerful work of art. They are visual symbols of a life lived passionately and courageously. Chris’s vision has at long last been brought to light for the world to see.
Chris’ journey is divided into twelve treks, and a preview of each can be found below.
“Back To The Wild: The Photographs And Writings of Christopher McCandless” is also available in DVD format.
This DVD is special in that it brings Chris’s experiences through his photographs and writings to the viewer in a different and unique way. Narration by Wayne Westerberg, Jan Burres and Chris’s mother Billie will add poignancy to Chris’s story through their words about their experiences and memories of this intensely driven and remarkable young man.
All of these elements will paint a portrait of Chris that, like his journey and memory, will never be forgotten.
Below are 2 trailers for the DVD. The first is narrated by Hal Holbrook (who played Russell Fritz known as Ron Franz in the movie “Into The Wild”). The second is narrated by Jan Burres (a friend of Chris aka Alexander Supertramp)
